The BRICS economic bloc was originally named BRIC (which stands for Brazil, Russia, India and China) was formed in 2006. And in 2009, South Africa began to join and the bloc officially changed its name to BRICS (with the addition of S). In January, the bloc's membership was expanded to include Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates. As well as 30 other countries that want to join Brics. Referring to Donald Trump's threat, here are 5 BRICS countries that could be targeted by the US president now:
1. China
China, which has been nuclear-armed, has a very large export value to the US. The value can reach hundreds of millions of billions of dollars per year. With a 100% import tariff which will affect the Chinese economy and the dynamics of Chinese trade. This threat can disrupt various products, from electronics to daily consumer goods.
2. India
India is also armed with nuclear weapons, and its export value to the United States is also quite large. Namely, it could reach tens of billions per year. The main products from India's exports to the US include medicines, with the main commodities being machinery, textiles and IT services.
3.Brasil
Brazil also dominates the export value to the United States (US) of tens of billions per year, with its mainstay commodities being soybeans, iron ore and coffee.
4. Rusia
Don't ask about Russia, this nuclear-armed country is currently hostile to America, and also has exports to America worth tens or tens of billions per year. However, this value has fallen sharply since Washington imposed sanctions regarding Moscow's invasion of Ukraine with oil and uranium, which are Russian products.
5. Afrika Selatan
South Africa has an export value to America of around 10 billion per year, with its mainstay products including gold, platinum and other agricultural products.
Trump feels he can target countries in the brics organization individually but doing this would cause the brics to act collectively in response then the situation is about who has the most trade, population and resources overall.
